Align with the Season - Winter

WINTER

On December 21 the winter solstice signals the arrival of the first day of winter season in North America.  In the cycle of nature, it is a transition from the busyness and abundance of autumn to the quiet season of hibernation.  A time to settle in to the long cold winter with our stores to sustain us through to spring.

As the days get shorter and the nights grow longer, winter offers us permission to slow down, rest, and go inward to nourish and restore our mind, body and spirit.

If we are able to pause the planning, chasing and rushing, winter is an invitation to surrender to stillness and find the gift in simple joys.  Lighting candles and making fires, gathering with friends, playing games with children, sipping warm drinks, walking the dog in the crunchy snow, gazing at the winter moonlight through frosty windows.

In Ayurveda, it is the Kapha season.  The slow, stable, cool, dark and feminine energy that holds us in its magical embrace for three months. It calls us to reconnect to our inner wisdom and attune with the light that lives within us.

Who am I? What do I really need? Can we lower the volume on the external noise and allow intuition to be our North Star? When we receive our inner knowing let it be what guides our intentions as we step into the fresh snow of a new year filled with infinite possibilities!
